Hacked email of Reuters journalist has details about BUK near Snizhne
A group of hackers was able to break into the email account of Russian journalist Sergei Zenin of “First Channel”.
The hackers were able to obtain a number of emails sent in November 2014 to Zenina by Reuters Moscow based journalist Anton Zverev. The emails contain information obtained in interviews by Zverev with separatists leaders in Eastern Ukraine.
Informnapalm.org has the story here. A German language post is here.
With the help of a these are the most interesting comments which makes sense.
The separatist leader tells there was a BUK in the area delivered from Russia with Russian crew. At July 17 there was activity of the Ukraine airforce. A SU-25 could have been shot down in the morning of July 17.
Zverev on March 12 2015 write this article on Reuters about a BUK. He wrote:
A former rebel from the separatist Vostok battalion, who for security reasons asked to be identified only by his first name, Igor, told Reuters that a BUK battery was in Chervonyi Zhovten on July 17, and he himself was not far from the village.
Igor said the battery’s mission was to discourage Ukrainian Su-25 ground attack jets from attacking separatist targets in the area. A BUK missile had been launched against the Ukrainian jets half an hour before the Malaysia Airlines Boeing came down, forcing the Ukrainian pilots to pull out, he said.
Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant reported at July 18, 0700 AM that a local from Snizhne reported that a few hours before the crash of MH17 a BUK missile was launched from separatists controlled area. Also AP journalist had seen a BUK the week before July 17. (note: probably these are the AP journalists who saw a BUK three hours before MH17 crashed /source)
Earlier, at July 23 2014 , Zverev published an interview with Alexander Khodakovsky, a major rebel commander in Donetsk. The audio of the interview can be heard
Khodakovsky accused the Kiev authorities for provoking what may have been the missile strike that destroyed the doomed airliner, saying Kiev had deliberately launched air strikes in the area, knowing the missiles were in place.
Khodakovsky told the Reuters journalist:
“The question is this: Ukraine received timely evidence that the volunteers have this technology, through the fault of Russia. It not only did nothing to protect security, but provoked the use of this type of weapon against a plane that was flying with peaceful civilians,” he said.
“They knew that this BUK existed; that the BUK was heading for Snezhnoye,” he said, referring to a village 10 km (six miles) west of the crash site. “They knew that it would be deployed there, and provoked the use of this BUK by starting an air strike on a target they didn’t need, that their planes hadn’t touched for a week.”
“And that day, they were intensively flying, and exactly at the moment of the shooting, at the moment the civilian plane flew overhead, they launched air strikes. Even if there was a BUK, and even if the BUK was used, Ukraine did everything to ensure that a civilian aircraft was shot down.”
Below is a summery of the email from Reuters journalist Zverev to his Russian co-worker Sergei Zenina of “First Channel”.
Zverev, Oliphant, Miller….same names keep popping up. Regurgitating each other, but when you ask them questions nobody home. Reuters correspondent never bothered to publish his video interview with Fedotov, the witness from Red October.
Hackers, anonymous witnesses, unverifiable pictures, there’s the bad odour of competing intelligence agencies trying to manipulate public opinion. Journalists. Journalists + MH17 = a toxic combination. http://kremlintroll.nl/?p=605
Question for Zenin and Zverev: “both of you confirm the contents of the published hacks are genuine?”
Well, because this informant’s testimony has been retrieved by illegal means from a Russian (!), it reinforces the suggestion there was something to conceal. Which makes it all the more credible (for some), I suppose.
Strelkov reported no sorties in the morning. Now we found out they shot down a plane at 10 AM. He didn’t even brag about it within minutes on antikvariat.ru and Strelkov_info.
Furthermore, this provocation theory founds itzelf on crew stupidity.
If there was some scrambling of radar inputs involved or another unclear military technology to provoke a shooting somehow (Antidyatel’s Raetheon theory), it could have had some credibility. But this is crap.
The only thing interesting is that missile launch half an hour before MH17 was downed. A witness in a 17:18 RIA Novosti report mentions he saw a rocket at 16:00 hrs. I believe Andrew has some more social media info about this possibility.
Presence of a Buk near Snizhne is something that can’t be ruled out. It proves nothing though. It is also possible the Ukrainians planned a false flag operation around the focal point this Buk was there, constructing beforehand a 17.7 trail that wasn’t there.
De Volkskrant 18-7-2014: “a couple of hours before the Boeing crashed, a resident of Snizhne reported a Buk Missile launch from a rebel controlled zone”. If true, this had to raise questions, but it didn’t. Probably the VK reporter believed that the missile had taken a detour.
Several Dutch media quoted the Reuters article from Zverev. However, they ignored the part you quoted. Why would they have done that. If they used a buk against a su-25 in the morning, which missile did they use to shoot down MH17? And why did they bring the BUK to Donetsk first?
It’s possible the rebels shot down a military plane, but that they did not shoot down MH17. I’m not saying this happened, just that it is possible
I would say this is impossible. There has been not a single claim of a SU-25 being shot at on July 17 at the time MH17 was shot down.
There is no wreckage either.
If all those claims are not an absolute bullshit, there were two Russian Buks in the area. The village Korennoye governed by the city council of Krasnyi Luch may be confused with a non-existent village Krasnoye. Krasnyi Luch (and obviously Korennoye) belongs to LNR that likely got “own” Russian Buks by July 14th: https://youtu.be/MVAOTWPmMM4?t=39s . Also there might be DNR’s TEL Buk mentioned by one rebel above as a part of the Buk convoy. This video of Russian TEL being carried in the direction of Ukraine was filmed at 48.2985°N 40.2434°E likely on July 16th evening (uploaded on July 19th, but the weather suggests not later than 16th): https://youtu.be/14t45Sc7HZE

The user “Dan’ka Radon’ka” indicated “Krasnyi Luch-Luhansk” as his place of permanent residence: http://ok.ru/profile/566405462979
“Yesterday this BUK was being carried through the centre of our town. Holy shit, we have been playing a war too much… I hate myself…”
“I had seen the launch of missiles personally, and then was happy that Ukrainians [aircraft] got shot down… I’m confessing to God…”
There is a video shot on July 17 2014 (apparently) of seperatists arriving at or near a crash site. The audio has the seperatists talking about a jet they had shot down, not a passenger plane.
Does anyone remember this video? It appeared in the Murdoch press in Australia more than a year ago and at that time claimed to be a new exclusive, though it then came to light that the video was already known about.
Can anyone remember?
Here it is. http://www.news.com.au/travel/travel-updates/incidents/neverbeforeseen-footage-reveals-russianbacked-rebels-arriving-at-the-wreckage-of-mh17/news-story/c5f6bc5e9629a22d17fe2680bfbd61a5
Max Power:
That rocket reported at 16:00 hrs. The Su-25 phantom shot down that appeared on social media and was even mentioned in the second Strelkov_info posting next to the “AN-26”. These people thinking there had to be a SU-25 somewhere.
These are parts of the puzzle, I guess.
Do we have any evidence of BUK launch before the MH17 happened. There must be thousand eyewitness. And where is the SU25 wreckage?
> There must be thousand eyewitness
This is a classic example of reasoning of a typical info warrior. For a Buk launch BEFORE the mh17 there must be THOUSAND of eyewitnesses, but for a Buk launch AT mh17 NONE is sufficient.
Bull#
There is “thousand” eyewitness for the launch at mh17. Earlier launch to clearer sky should have even more.
Ok, show me one of your “thousand” that is not from an anonymous twitter or VK account.
Would this one do? Gerashenko:
http://censor.net.ua/news/294258/tysyachi_lyudeyi_videli_moment_zapuska_rakety_terroristami_po_boingu_sovetnik_glavy_mvd_foto
Aleynikov is not an eyewitness, he only shot the alleged launch plume. Gerashenko’s “thousand” eyewitness are probably the same as the sotilaspassi’s “thousand” eyewitness, meaning none.
Check the BBC document for starters.
I am very curious where your “thousand eyewitness” is based on. I have a hard time finding ten people in media reports who reported seeing the missile flying. None of them saw the actual launch.
Please come up with some more info.
This is the most salient, because it is from a Russian outlet not long after the crash. Original timestamp = 17:13 EEST but it has been modified at 18:19 EEST (correcting for Moscow Time).
However, the story also contains information running around social media, like the mine Progress, which is about halfway to the actual crashsite when you are looking at the smoke from the wreckage from Snizhne North-West.
Also “away from residential area” is a soundbite that returns in the famous 17:16 Strelkov_info posting, presumably a copy from a 17:37 antikvariat.ru posting.
I don’t know if one could see a plane being hit flying above cloudbase at about 10 km.
http://ria.ru/world/20140717/1016409306.html
Transport An-26 shot down in Eastern Ukraine, said eyewitnesses.
According to them, the plane crashed somewhere in the mine area “Progress”, away from residential areas. “We saw him hit a rocket, there was an explosion, the plane went to the ground, leaving a black smoke. Fell from the sky any debris,” told one of the locals.
DONETSK, 17 Jul — RIA Novosti. Militiamen on Thursday over the city Torez Donetsk region of Eastern Ukraine shot down another transport plane of the Ukrainian air force, told RIA Novosti eyewitnesses of the incident.
“Around 16: 00 local time over the city passed An-26. We saw him hit a rocket, there was an explosion, the plane went to the ground, leaving a black smoke. Fell from the sky a lot of debris,” told one of the locals.
As a confirmation of his words the interlocutors of Agency have provided a video.
According to them, the plane crashed somewhere in the mine area “Progress”, away from residential areas.
Torez is located near the town of Snow and Kurgan Saur-Grave, where militias have several anti-aircraft guns. Yesterday in the area they shot down two su-25.
Hector, you wrote, “According to them, the plane crashed somewhere in the mine area “Progress”, away from residential areas.”
This is probably way off base, but is it possible the black smoke of the “launch plume” is that jet?
It is based on RU propaganda + common sense.
Truth behind it is that there were tens of thousands of residents in the nearby cities, many of them must have noticed the special launch sound of BUK.
Some people say the live BUK launch sound is little similar with F18 low pass with afterburners on. It should be heard within tens of kilometers from launch site. At Donbas area Suhois or Migs with afterburners were not as common as SU25 flying around, so people should notice the difference vs “normal”.
(The actual rocket engine flame most likely is seen only by those who happen to look towards the launch area before the launch. In ~2+km from launch site the missile is already in clouds before sound is heard.)
Max: No the smoking remains of the airplane were located from the plume photographer in the other direction, more to the North. The launchplume was south-south-west from his POV.
Sotilaspassi: those ten of thousands didn’t report it, even not afterwards when the alleged cause of the disaster was known.
There are indeed very few accounts of people who saw a missile – and it is still my conviction a hit as described in the Zverev article and in the RIA Novosti dispatch could not been seen.
All the accounts from western media outlets are unreliable, as I wrote in my blog about them. From the Zverev witnesses Fedotov lied and changed his statments more than once and those others reported things they could not have seen.
E.g. It is said the distance to “Progress” was 9.5 km where in fact it is 19 km. No way they could imagine all by themselves this plane they allgedly saw being hit (at a distance of 26 km), fell near Progress.
There I go again, I mean POV Aleynikov towards plume was about south-south-east
Eugene, that’s exactly my point: Gerashenko lied.
I got your point then. I think it is hard to find a bullshitter bigger in Ukraine politics than Geraschenko. Though, I would not like to be the one who endeavors to build such a classification.
admin you better take my warning serious, check your sources. This story is definitely fake.
The email address in the article points to a different Zenin, same name different birth date.
Informnapalm.org is the sister site of the notorious Mirotvorets (peacemaker) site, close to the Ministry of internal affairs of Ukraine, especially to Arsen Avakov and Anton Gerashchenko. Officially, these sites were created to counter Russian propaganda, by telling the truth. In realty, they do the opposite, as this story shows.
The reason behind this story is obvious: it “proves” the involvement of Russia.
As expected Censor.Net brings the story as well :
