JIT countries to sign a document in New York
Malaysian press agency Bernama at September 14 2017 reported that the countries member of the Joint Investigation Team will sign a document next week in New York. The content and purpose of the document was not made public.
According to Ukrainian Ambassador to Malaysia Olexander Nechytaylo, the document defines detailed steps and actions for all participating countries in the investigations of the 2014 downing of the Malaysia Airlines plane.
Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs Bishop confirms she will attend a JIT meeting in New York during the United Nations meeting
That does not say anything.
“This indeed is a long, ongoing process and definitely will take time. The challenges we’re facing now is that we have to collect hard evidence that will be admissible in court.” according to Nechytaylo.
This document will likely be an extention of the JIT agreement which ends in beginning of 2018. As the Ukrainian ambassador says JIT is still collecting hard evidence, the JIT agreement is likely to be extended. Also a courtcase seems very far away.
Spokesman for Dutch Public Prosecution Service was not aware of a JIT document signing. I am waiting for questions asked.
