Russian state controled media publishing fake news on MH17 one day before release of Bellingcat report is not a coincidence
At December 7 2017 Russian state controlled media like Tass , the Russian defense media Zvezda, and the Russian main tv-channel published a story about an Ukraine defector named Yuri Baturin who stated that an Ukraine BUK system shot down MH17.
Also pro Russian websites like Fort-Russ copied the story. Russia a while ago stopped spreading the nonsense that a fighterjet took down MH17 and shifted to a new narrative in which an Ukraine BUK shot down MH17 with a missile launched form an area near Zaroshchenske. For many reasons this is a nonsense story.
It is interesting to note that all media reports are in Russian language, except for the blogs like Fort-Russ. There is no massive Twitter campaign with Tweets in english language about this Ukraine defector stating Ukraine shot down MH17. In the Netherlands a policial leader recently stated Russia is targeting the Dutch public opinion with fake news.
The date of this new Russian media campaign is not a coincidence. Russian tactics is to publish controversial stories one day before an official pressrelease. Like Russia did when the Joint Investigation Team did their annoucements in September 2016. Two days before in Moscow a presspresentation was organized in which Russia all of a sudden showed radar images. These images according Moscow proved the missile was not launched from an area south of Snizhne. JIT two days later announced the missile was launched from an area south of Snizhne.
At December 8 2017 , one day after the Russian media campaign, Bellingcat released a report titled Russian Colonel General Identified as Key MH17 Figure
A joint investigation between The Insider and Bellingcat used open source research, investigative journalism, and forensic voice analysis to determine the identity of “Delfin,” a key figure sought by the Joint Investigation Team (JIT), the Dutch-led criminal investigation into the downing of Malaysian Airlines Flight 17 (MH17). The investigation has identified, to a high degree of certainty, Delfin as Colonel General Nikolai Fedorovich Tkachev, currently serving as the Chief Inspector of the Central Military District of the Russian Federation.

Do you think Russian intelligence has penetrated the Bellingcat team? Perhaps the timing of the Bellingcat release was partially determined by the Russian news story.
