The MH17 disaster seems, three years later, to have disappeared from the memory of the Dutch
Four times each year, Dutch Sociaal en Cultureel Planbureau (SCP) (The Netherlands Institute for Social Research) assesses the opinion of the Dutch. The results are documented in a report called ‘Burgerperspectieven‘.
The edition 2017/4 mentions MH17. Dutch newspaper Nederlands Dagblad reported about this report here.
The report concludes on MH17 that three years after MH17 the majority of the Dutch have forgotten about MH17. In 2o14 14 respondents mentioned the MH17 commemoration as an event to be proud of. In 2017 only two respondents mentioned MH17. Only one of the four focus groups, elderly people living in Arnhem, mentions MH17 as a dramatic event of the last 10 years.
