Ukraine deputy minister “In September will be announced when MH17 trial starts”
Ukraine Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and European Integration Olena Zerkal told that in September during a United Nations meeting an announcement will be made about the start of the MH17 trial, Ukraine media reports.
The 73rd session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 73) will open on 18 September 2018. The first day of the high-level General Debate will be Tuesday, 25 September 2018, and is scheduled to last for nine working days.
Zerkal told everything is ready for the trial, which will be in Badhoevedorp near Schiphol airport. Around 100 suspects are identified.
Earlier Russian journalist Pavel Kanygin who works for Novaya Gazetta wrote Dutch public prosecutor will hand over the evidence and names of suspects to the Dutch court in winter.
When asked for comment after publication by Novaya Gazetta, JIT head Fred Westerbeke denied a date for the start of the trial was decided.
The Joint Investigation Team agreement terminates in January 2019 but could be extended again for one year as happened ever since the start of the JIT in 2014.
